Planning your research project

Your own research project is likely to be the most demanding and lengthy piece of work that you carry out over the course of your degree. Given how many steps are involved, it’s a good idea to be as systematic and organized as possible right from the outset.

Each of the topics in this section will help you get started and establish a very clear plan for your whole project. It will help you ensure that:

  • You have a clear plan for when and how each stage of your project will be done
  • You have a well-defined research topic and question
  • Your chosen topic and research question is grounded in the existing research literature
  • You create a manageable research design that will answer your research question.
